 Wakabayashi is a goal keeper who has high technique. If Tsubasa is leading player from Japan team, then Wakbayashi is back leading player or goal keeper. He is very close with Tsubasa. . Because of his ability , make him recruited by Germany Team from Hamburg. He was very famous with  his ability to block all of kicks from outside penalty area. He is the rival from Wakashimatsu who uses Acrobatic style when was playing football. He ever tried boxing to strengthen her blocking ability.

Wakabayashi is charismatic , loyal with his friends, and responsible with his decision. Genzo Wakabayashi always keep her feelings for himself and persons who are in his side. Like Captain Tsubasa, when he critic his friend's performances sincerely to make them realize that European Football is different from Japanese football that played by them. His action made many of Japanese players didn't like him. And he only could tell to Tsubasa about his sincerely goal.
